W2: Research - Georgia's Inspiration

Bonnie Monteleone's artwork 'The Great Wave of Kanagawa'

I found this awesome artwork that looks very similar to the concept Shelby and I had come up with about a giant wave of rubbish destroying the beach. This artwork has great texture and visual flow. It is actually a parody of a famous 19th century painting and is commenting on the amount of rubbish that litters the sea.

I like the simple, illustrative style of this image and the bold, natural colours.

Comic Book Style:

The onomatopoeia is really dynamic in the way that it helps create sound and perspective in the image.
I like how speed has been shown through simple lines of colour a shade darker than the rest of the background.
The use of white lines to show movement and action is simple but effective.

The simple line work, colours, and shapes are appealing and would be easy for little children to understand.
Every character has a unique, interesting pose.
The use of onomatopoeia adds to the action. I think we should try and add this to our work and see what it looks like.
How comic's are split into different sections/panels is interesting and we could consider using this technique.
A strong pose and 3D-looking text really makes a character look heroic.
